Website Ripper Copier is a program to download complete websites. Of course, there are contents you cannot access or, which require you to have a username and password. This username and password can be specified in the program. For the actual restricted content, or for websites you don’t have a password, nothing can be done.
The program can be used as a web browser too. Well, it is just an Internet Explorer ActiveX control that is used to implement this option. One advantage is that you get zero pop-ups. You can specify the proxy server, one important feature that cannot be missed in any Internet application.
The program has two modes, a browser and a project mode. The project mode is where you can create a new project to perform downloads from a particular website. You can specify whether to download or not all the browser files (HTML, JSP, etc) and the downloads (RAR, ZIP, etc) from a website. If it is a big website, you should specify the depth of search. Also, even if you specify particular files to be downloaded, it will take a lot of time. The downloads can be paused and resumed at any moment.
A piece of advice that I would give is to take a look at the various settings of the program. The priority of parsing web pages should be of some high value if you are to download a lot of files or if you are downloading from a huge website. In the Downloader tab the priority for downloading web files should also be the highest. If the files are too big or you think that the download will take more time than usually, considering your connection and server's speed, the connection/downloader number can be increased.
Mirroring, cookies, privacy settings, page/download filters, settings for script files, etc. are also available. I really liked this program, it is very useful for small websites and FTP sites. |
